Love In Action

Love In Action

Giving a loved one a greeting card on Valentine’s Day is nothing unique. Millions of cards are sold during this holiday, and the sale of cards, chocolate, and flowers goes through the roof. While thousands of couples spend the day giving flowers, chocolates, cards, having romantic dinner, and passionate intimacy, there are other ways to express love.

Traditionally, Valintine’s Day is meant for those in love or who has a crush on another. But this day doesn’t have to be about expressing love to those you are in love with. Or celebrate it with the typical candy and flowers either. Valintine’s Day can be a day to show love through action. You can show others you care for them by extending a helping hand.

With another Valentine’s Day gone, here are a few undercover ways you can express love to others you care about, even to those you don’t know all year round.

Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:18.

  • A simple smile and positive attitude can go a long way with everyone you come in contact with.
  • Offer a neighbor or stranger help with a chore like yard work.
  • Engage in positive conversation when you feel negativity creeping in.
  • Pray as a family for a different person every night.
  • Befriend someone who is in need of a kind shoulder or someone who has few friends.
  • Talk with a homeless person. Buy them lunch, clothes, or toiletries.
  • You can offer free babysitting for a single parent or couple.
  • Pray for someone going through a difficult time and ask them if they need help.
  • Use your talents or hobby to do something nice for someone. Knit a scarf or fix their drain.
  • Pay it forward. It could mean so much to a person having their coffee paid for by a stranger. You could also pay for someone’s meal or groceries. These acts of kindness can be passed on.

We can all appreciate the kindness of others. We must all love our brothers and sisters, as well as our neighbors. Showing kindness or love for another can happen at any time and in any form. Focusing on spreading joy and kindness to others can benefit their health as well as yours. It feels good knowing you helped another, even in a small way. And when you make an effort to help others, big or small, it can have a rippling effect.

You Get What You Give

Showing love and kindness, not only on Valentine’s Day, takes no effort and can have a significant impact on the person. We all deserve to be loved and shown love, and when we are given a chance to be kind over being cruel, we should take it.

But even those who are kind to others need kindness in return. We all struggle in our daily life and need guidance. At The Open Door, we offer a variety of free classes in Cisco to assist you in your struggle.
